BQIC has three working groups that make up the collective:

Money-Making

  • This is the group that raises money for the collective + other causes. Money-Making identifies creative, fun, grassroots ways to fund the work that we do!
  • This can include: hosting parties with a purpose, applying for grants, creating merchandise for sale, and so much more!
  • Main recurring project: SPEAK UP! Spoken Word and Open Mic Fundraiser

Consciousness Raising

  • This is the group that leads internal and external political education on issues related to Black queer and trans liberation. Consciousness-Raising
  • This can include: facilitating our Each One Teach One trainings, speaking on panels, writing blog posts or op-eds, hosting a teach-in, and so much more!
  • Main recurring project: Black Power Book Club

Community Building

  • This is the group that forms and strengthens our relationships with Black LGBTQIA+ people in the city, broader community
  • This can include: providing material resources for fellow Black LGBTQIA+ people, doing street outreach, directly supporting the work of other radical folks/organizations, and so much more!
  • Main recurring project: Free Resource Fridays
