Thank you to all of you interested in joining BQIC, we’ll see y’all soon!!! Repost from @blackmenbuildcbus QUEER KARAOKE NIGHT IS TONIGHT at 8pm! 🎤 It’s hard to believe it’s been four years since losing you Amber. Four years without hearing your powerful words, laughing with you, or witnessing your brilliance in a physical sense. Today in 2019 we found out that you were no longer with us and our community has never been the same. On Wednesday, March 29th at 6-8PM we will be hosting our BQIC Orientation for Black LGBTQIA+ folks interested in joining the Collective. We will go over our framework and approach to organizing, our mission, initiatives, and more. This is a required training for prospective members! If you can’t make it this month, we will be hosting again very soon. Yesterday was Black Queer & Intersectional Collective’s 6th birthday !!!!! And we are so in awe of the things we’ve been able to accomplish and the connections we’ve made with the community in a little over half a decade !! We’re celebrating SIX years of centering the voices & needs of Black queer and trans people, six years of fighting for the abolition of the state, six years of Black queer & trans joy and love and struggle, six years of raising the public’s consciousness, six years of creating community safety, 5 years of community pride, 3 years of redistributing emergency funding, all so we can build a new world for us. We are so proud of everything so far and trust, there is more to come 💜 Come sing your hearts out with us at QUEER KARAOKE NIGHT hosted by BQIC on Friday, March 24th at 8-10pm! We'll be at Chef Hiro @chef.hiro which is located at 1297 Parsons Ave, so you can also grab a bite to eat or a drink while you're there! DJ Faye Waye will be running us through the hits, so make sure you come through and bring a friend! Parking is available at the back of the restaurant. Columbus Community Pride is back for 2023!!!! 🎉🎉🎉 Happy International Women’s Day!! Today we celebrate and uplift all women, but especially our Black trans sisters. As more laws are passed with the intention of eradicating trans and gender nonconforming people in this country, we must remember who is most targeted by patriarchal violence. The fight for Black women, particularly Black trans women, to be not only visible but protected and celebrated in society has always been a core part of ushering in our collective liberation. Today we want to remember that any attack against trans women is an attack against womanhood itself. This women’s day, let us honor the women who have fought for our freedom to express womanhood in ways that challenge patriarchy and honor the complexity of gender itself.
